Frequently Asked Questions

Rolfing® Structural Integration is a hands-on therapy which targets restrictions in the fascia—the connective tissue that surrounds and supports your muscles, nerves, and organs.

Unlike traditional massage, which helps relaxation and circulation, Rolfing®  works by releasing the stuck tissue so that muscles, nerves, bones and organs are free to move again.

Whether you're seeking relief from pain or simply want to move and feel better, Rolfing® can help.

Winback TECAR is a radiofrequency therapy used to support tissue mobility, circulation, and recovery. During a session, a gentle electromagnetic current is delivered through specialized electrodes while hands-on bodywork is performed.

The technology works by encouraging the body’s natural responses, including increased local circulation and tissue hydration, which can help tissues feel more pliable and responsive to treatment. Clients often describe the sensation as a deep, comfortable warmth.

Winback TECAR is commonly used alongside Rolfing®, structural integration, sports massage, and myofascial work to support movement efficiency, recovery from training, and overall tissue quality.

It is non-invasive, and is always adjusted based on individual comfort and treatment goals.

Used by professional athletes and top rehabilitation clinics around the world, TECAR therapy provides a high-tech boost to the body’s natural healing mechanisms.

High-Intensity PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field) Therapy uses targeted electromagnetic pulses to support the body’s natural recovery and self-regulation processes. The pulses pass comfortably through clothing and into the tissues, where they interact with cells involved in movement, circulation, and neuromuscular coordination.

High-intensity PEMF is often used to help tissues relax, improve movement quality, and support recovery from physical stress or training load.

Many clients find it especially helpful when combined with Rolfing®, structural integration, sports massage, and myofascial work.

Sessions are non-invasive, require no downtime, and are always adjusted to individual comfort levels. Expect to feel gentle tapping, pulsing, or muscle activation during treatment as the energy is transferred into your body.

Winback TECAR therapy and High-Intensity PEMF therapy are safe and effective treatments for most people, but there are a few situations where it’s best to avoid using them; deep vein thrombosis, pregnancy, areas with active infections, cancer, or for people with implanted electronic devices.

Besides these few contraindications, TECAR and PEMF therapies can be used safely to support healing, reduce discomfort, and enhance recovery.

Rolfing®, Winback TECAR therapy, and High-Intensity PEMF therapy are generally well-tolerated, though the sensations vary by modality. Rolfing is deep tissue bodywork, so some pressure, stretching, or mild discomfort can occur, especially in tight or chronically tense areas, and post-session soreness similar to that after a workout is common.

Winback TECAR therapy uses radiofrequency energy to stimulate tissue and promote healing, usually producing a gentle warmth or tingling. In some cases, TECAR may temporarily bring awareness to injured tissue, creating a brief sensation of tenderness or discomfort as the body responds and begins to heal.

High-Intensity PEMF therapy is typically painless, though it can similarly highlight areas of tension or injury, potentially producing a short-lived sensation of discomfort.

Matt carefully and intentionally works with you to adjust intensity levels during your Rolfing, TECAR and PEMF therapy sessions to ensure your comfort while optimizing effectiveness. Overall, while each modality may involve temporary discomfort, they are generally relaxing, non-invasive, and supportive of the body’s natural healing processes.

Yes! Rolfing®, Winback TECAR therapy, and High-Intensity PEMF therapy can benefit you even if you’re not currently in pain. These modalities work not only to relieve discomfort but also to improve overall body function, alignment, and mobility.

Rolfing helps release chronic tension, optimize posture, and enhance movement efficiency. TECAR therapy stimulates circulation and cellular activity, supporting tissue health, recovery, and performance. PEMF therapy promotes circulation and energy flow throughout the body.

Many clients use these therapies proactively to maintain wellness, prevent injuries, improve athletic performance, and support long-term body resilience—even when they feel healthy and pain-free.

For a Rolfing® or TECAR session, direct contact with the skin is necessary, so it’s best to wear minimal or easily adjustable clothing that allows access to the areas being treated. Avoid using oils, lotions, and heavy creams prior to your session, as these can interfere with the work.

For PEMF therapy, all forms of clothing are generally fine, there’s no need to adjust clothing for direct skin contact like with Rolfing® or TECAR therapy. Just avoid heavy jewelry which could interfere with the device.

In all cases, choose clothing that allows you to move freely and feel at ease.
